Southern Runner is a 5-year-old dark bay or brown gelding from the United States, trained by Richard Vega. He is sired by the stallion Speightster and out of the mare Southern Flu. Southern Runner has not yet achieved maiden status, as he has not won any races in 12 tries. In his latest race at Philadelphia Park on September 12, 2023, Southern Runner, ridden by Eliseo Ruiz, finished in 3rd place behind the winner, W. P. Cadet.
