Protagonist, a 4-year-old gelding, was bred in South Africa and is trained by Justin Snaith. Sired by Fire Away and out of Quintessential, Protagonist has yet to win a race in six attempts. In his most recent outing at Kenilworth on February 12, 2024, ridden by J V’d Merwe, he finished behind the winner, Indecent Proposal.
