Basso is a 6-year-old gray and roan gelding, bred in the United States and trained by Gregory Sacco. His sire is Cairo Prince, and his dam is Zapara. Despite nine races, Basso has yet to win, remaining a maiden. In his most recent outing at Belmont Park on June 25, 2023, Basso, ridden by Dylan Davis, did not place, finishing behind the winner, Pioneering Spirit.
